Developing a Team Culture

In one of my discussion with few leaders, we started talking about how to harness the collective power of the group that helps improve individual performance and commitment. Why is it important to develop a team culture?   Shaping a team culture and setting norms and values is crucial for harnessing the collective power of a group to improve individual performance and commitment. Here are some steps to achieve this: Define Clear Goals and Expectations : Clearly communicate the team's goals, objectives, and individual roles within the team. Importance of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) for Leaders

ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) considerations have become increasingly important in today's business landscape. Developing a robust framework and ensuring compliance with ESG principles is crucial for companies to not only meet regulatory requirements but also to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.   Education is the key. Understanding why ESG matters, both for our own well-being and for the health of the planet, is fundamental for individuals, businesses, and societies as a whole. It's not just about ticking boxes; it's about understanding the interconnectedness of environmental protection, social justice, and good governance in creating a sustainable future.   By educating ourselves and integrating ESG principles into decision-making processes, we can contribute to positive change and ensure that industries operate in a way that benefits both people and the planet in the long term.   Some countries, like Norway...

Leaders find a right balance between conviction & validation.

There are two kind of leaders. One with strong sense of conviction and the other with strong sense of validation. Their confidence and determination can inspire others to follow suit, creating momentum within the team or organization.    However, they may be prone to tunnel vision and risk overlooking alternative perspectives or potential pitfalls.    On the other hand, leaders who prioritize clarity may be more cautious and deliberative in their decision-making process. They seek input from others a...

Persuasion

Persuasion – why this is more important than ever   In one of my discussion with a Business Head, we spoke about how persuasion skill is important for any Leader and why it was becoming more necessary than ever. Persuasion works by appealing to a set of deeply rooted human drives and needs. Persuasion can be taught, learned and applied.    Robert B. Cialdini is a renowned psychologist and author known for his work on persuasion and influence.  I happen to read an article written by Robert B. Cialdini that talks about 'Harnessing the Science of Persuasion'.  He outlines six key principles of persuasion that can be effectively applied by leaders in various organizational contexts. These principles are:   ·        Liking: People are more inclined to say yes to those they know, like, and trust. Leaders can build rapport and likability by finding common ground, showing genuine interest in others, and using techniques such as mirrori...
